What is it about portraits and being witnessed that draws me to painting them?

Meeting people and listening to their stories or just witnessing them in silence?

Honestly, I am not sure. Perhaps it is the power of connection.

What I know is that a portrait session can be a very private and powerful experience that somehow gets translated into the resulting piece.

I catch a glimpse of how you are feeling, and not necessarily being aware of it. And where you are at.

I capture where you come from.

And where you want to go.

The session is a you space…and the resulting artwork is a witness to that.

So, if you can give me two hours of your time, I can show you what I can see… in you.

Being witnessed is a powerful stuff.
